Goals for October 2008
My main goal for October is to launch another autoblogging site at the following URL:
I think it’s a pretty cool domain name, now just to figure out where to pull the feeds from to populate the blog. I will probably use Perez Hilton, Entertainment Weekly, and E! Online to start.
I also grabbed bloggability.com. I can’t decide if I want to use this as a blog network for my various sites and those of my friends or to use it as a blog directory. Another idea would be to invite bloggers to join it and pay for content.
Another one of my sites is JAWSmovie.com. I don’t use this site to make money. I created it because I love the movie JAWS. I am even a producer on an upcoming JAWS documentary.
I do have ads on the site, but it’s just to pay the hosting fees since the traffic has been pretty good for the site. Click-thrus are pretty low since most site traffic is forum traffic. My traffic had actually been dropping though, and the forum on the site was getting abandoned by most of the regulars, who defected to another site. I blame myself for this as the forum software I was using was ancient and written by me back when I was going to try to develop a commercial forum product (I still have the domain I was going to use back then: boardlet.com). It had major security holes and bugs and unfinished features. I decided to relaunch the site as a WordPress site, with BBPress as the new forum, since the two products are supposed to work together well. I started by replacing the old classic ASP forum with BBPress, and after about a month of that (and continued user indifference), I spent a few days altering various PHP pages within WordPress to fit my needs. I added a bunch of my old content on JAWSmovie as backdated WordPress posts. At the very least the site looks a lot better, is easy to update, and is search engine optimized. I also sought help from other people in the community to help me with the site, which is something I should have done LONG ago. Hopefully more JAWS fans will be able to find the site now and the community will grow. I have gotten good feedback so far. I need to convert the BBPress theme to look like the WordPress theme, and that is going to take some time.
Sale of the Ad Slot domain name
I got an email the other day from someone who had been offering to buy Adslot.com on Sedo. I had gotten several offers, and said offers had increased up to $8888.88. According to his email, most of the offers were from him. There is no way to verify this on Sedo, but it makes sense as he wanted the name. He said he had found another domain name he liked and was going to go forward with using that unless I changed my mind and sold Adslot.com to him. His final offer was lower than the 8K one, but I realized that I’m probably not ready to sell the name. Since I started this blog, I like having it as a place to talk about my online money-making adventures. Ultimately I think the name is worth more than 8K anyway.

It’s really easy to use and you can set up multiple campaigns to pull from different feeds. You can set up categories in advance and schedule it to run automatically. The only thing I find myself having to do is go back in for the automated posts and add tags to them more specific to the content.
What do you use for autoblogging? Plugin Would really like to know as I want to set up a blog doing the same.
